What is a crooked knife blade?

The most common way to create a crooked knife is by using an angle grinder. The process involves grinding away material from one side of the blade until it becomes concave.
This can be done on either the edge or the backside of the blade. However, this method requires some skill because if the grind goes too deep, then the knife will become unusable.
Another option for creating a crooked knife is to use a hacksaw. You must first cut off all the sharp edges of the blade before starting your sawing operation.
Then start cutting at the bottom corner of the blade. Continue making cuts along the length of the blade until you reach its top end.
When you have finished, remove any remaining pieces of metal from the blade.

A reverse bevel knife is similar to a normal bevel knife, except that the actual edge of the blade is flat on the cut side, and the user actually cuts on the flat side of the blade. A reverse bevel knife is much less likely to slip/slide than a straight bevel knife.
Also, the edge of the blade of a reverse-bevel knife is sharper than a normal bevel knife, and is commonly used in non-food-related tasks such as opening boxes, cutting wires, etc.

How do you sharpen a crooked knife?
The best way to sharpen a crooked knife is to use a sharpening stone, also known as a whetstone. These are specialised stones used to achieve a very fine edge.
When sharpening a knife, the angle at which you sharpen it is more important than the stone you are using.
Step 1: Lay the whetstone flat on a table. Place the blade of the knife flat on the stone, as well as a folded cloth. The cloth is used to prevent the blade from gliding across the stone.
Step 2: Place pressure on the blade, and pull the blade away from you, along the stone. Continue pulling the blade in a straight line for at least two inches.
The pressure on the blade should be enough to keep it moving but not so much that it will break off or bend. If this happens, try again with less force.
If your knife bends when pulled through the stone, then stop immediately.
Step 3: When the blade has been drawn out about half an inch, turn the knife 90 degrees clockwise. This means that the tip of the blade now faces towards you instead of away from you.
Repeat steps one and two until the blade is completely straightened.
Step 4: Once the blade is perfectly sharp, remove the cloth and place the blade back onto the stone. Use even pressure to draw the blade down the stone. Do not press hard; just move slowly and steadily.

This type of crooked knife is usually called a “bushknife” by its makers. It was originally designed as a hunting weapon, with a sharpened point and a flat back end.
